Funny, this was the first thing I thought of when I got J. Crew’s email about their latest promo, but before I could check it out for myself, midwestablishment sent me a message confirming that the code works for Alden. After testing, it looks like it only works on Alden boots; not only are Alden shoes not eligible, it seems J. Crew will only let you order them by phone for the duration of the promotion.
I basically walked out the door as soon as I saw this (it can be dangerous working smack-dab between the J Crew Men’s Shop on Broadway and the Liquor Store on West Broadway), because they didn’t have my size online. I did find the cordovan boots in my size at the Liquor Store, but all the employees I talked to at both stores were super shocked that the discount applied to Alden anything, and insisted on checking themselves online. So I’m not even entirely sure if you can count on it continuing to be available until the 4th, as the manager at the Liquor Store seemed to believe it might be an error on J. Crew’s part.
